World Record Gin and Tonic

As you know, we do enjoy a challenge every now and then. A few months ago, through a satisfied customer and fan of Ghent local products, we received the question whether we wanted to participate in the first edition of a Ghent gin festival. As the cherry on top, a world record attempt for the 'Largest gin and tonic in the world' was organised.

'Seems right up your alley,' I can hear you thinking. We thought so too. Anything that takes place around Ghent and involves events – we love to be part of it! The event was organised at the old Domo site in Zwijnaarde. A unique opportunity to also explore that event venue.

We made sure we could offer some unique elements to our customers to stand out from other gin producers. So we ensured that people could watch our promo film (see below) with an accompanying competition, we had a banner specially made with our logo, we provided a moment where people could have their bottles personalised 'live' and we came up with a unique cocktail: the 'Gin Blossom'.

For the Gin Blossom, we replace the tonic with a combination of elderflower syrup and sparkling water. This way, we can also let people enjoy The Ghentist who are less fond of the bitter aftertaste of tonic. The elderflower syrup we use is produced in an artisanal way in the Pajottenland. More info can be found here.

As mentioned above, everything was pulled out to break the world record for the 'Largest GT in the world'. A cocktail of no less than 1,528 litres was made in approximately 1 hour. As a result, Belgium takes over the world record from the Americans. The video below captures the atmosphere – one to never forget!
