As you know, we like to have a challenge on our plate every now and then. A few months ago we received through a satisfied customer and also a fan of Ghent regional products, the question if we wanted to participate in the first edition of a Ghent gin festival. As icing on the cake, a world record attempt was made 'World's largest gin and tonic’ organized.
"Looks like you're made", I can hear you thinking. That's what we thought too. Everything that goes on around Ghent and has to do with events, we like to be a part of that! The event was organized at the old Domo site in Zwijnaarde. A unique opportunity to discover that event site as well.
We made sure that we could offer some unique elements to our customers in order to distinguish ourselves from other gin producers. So we made sure people could watch our promo film (see below) with an accompanying match, we had a banner made especially with our logo, we envisioned a moment where people could use their bottles 'live'’ were able to personalize it and we came up with a unique cocktail 'Gin Blossom'.
At the Gin Blossom we replace the tonic with a combination of Elderberry syrup and sparkling water. With this we can also let people enjoy The Ghentist who appreciate the bitter aftertaste of tonic less. The elderberry syrup we use is produced in an artisanal way in the Pajottenland. As mentioned above, everything was pulled out to set the world record 'Largest GT in the world’ to break. A cocktail of no less than 1528 liters made in approx 1 hour time. As a result, Belgium takes over the world record from the Americans. The video below describes the atmosphere that hung there, one to remember!
